Answer

Safekey was a program function that allowed MIP customers to take an existing MIP user ID and use it in an ODBC connection with read only access. MIP v2020.2 contains significant upgrades in security. Due to these security changes this feature had to be removed from the product to avoid a security risk.

Going forward customers who wish to set up a connection to the database can still do so, but they will need to have a login for SQL and use that in an ODBC connection. This can be a login specifically set up for the purpose or it can use and existing active directory login if it has been granted SQL rights.

Instructions for setting up an ODBC connection can be found from Microsoft.

NOTE: Abila MIP Support does not support the setup, configuration or troubleshooting of ODBC connections. If you are having issues with your ODBC connection consult your SQL admin.
